  policies

  hours

Munchkin Manor is open from 6:45am to 6:00pm. Please be prompt when picking up your child to avoid a late fee. Please call if you are going to be late. "AM" children must be picked up by noon in order not to interfere with the naptime transition.

payment

Tuition is due on the 1st of each month. A late fee of $25.00 will be charged for tuition not paid by the 5th of the month. There will be no exceptions unless prior arrangements have been made with Sue. If your check is returned NSF, there will be a $25.00 fee. If it happens a second time, you will need to pay with cash from then on.

absences

If your child will not be attending on a scheduled day, please call and let us know as early as possible. Please also inform us of vacations or other extended absences. There are no credits for sick days. However, after six consecutive months of enrollment, you may receive vacation credits. These are based on the number of days your child is here in a week. Vacation credits are NOT transferable from year to year.

illness

For our protection and the protection of the other children, a child must stay home if they have a communicable condition or illness. State regulations require that any child with a fever over 100.5 or more then one episode of diarrhea or vomiting MUST BE SENT HOME. In order to return, the child must be sympton free for 24 hours. In the case of strep infection, your child must have taken medicaiton 24 hours before being considered no longer infectious. All lesions from chicken pox must be scabbed completely before a child can return to the center. If your child needs to take medication while at school, please give the medicine to a teacher rather than sending it in your child's lunchbox.

sign

Sign-In:
We need you to sign your child(ren) in and out each day. This is a state regulation and is very important for the safety of your child. The sign-in sheet is located on the counter to your right as you enter the front doors. Always walk your child into and out of the building. Never take a child from the center without alerting a staff member.

Good-Byes:
WE have found that a quick good-bye works best. If a parent lingers too long, it often raises the child's anxiety, making it harder for the child to say good-bye. Also, please be sure to say good-bye rather than just sneak out. It is quite a shock to turn around and discover that Mom or Dad has "vanished."

discipline

WE DO NOT PRACTICE PHYSICAL PUNISHMENT. In the event that a child is intentionally distracting other children, we will redirect, have a quiet conversation with the child, or have the child leave the group until such time as he or she feels able to return to the group and act accordingly. If our usual methods do n ot have an effect, we will speak to you and together we can look for an alternate way of dealing with the situation. We never allow physical violence between children. In cases of extreme aggression, we will discuss the situation with the parent and will suspend the child if needed. We must have a strong policy on this issue for the safety of all children attending Munchkin Manor.

snacks

Each child is to bring a lunch from home. Please pack a healthy, well-balanced lunch and keep processed foods to a minimum. We have a microwave to warm up leftovers. The more preparation that is done at home, the less time that your child will have to wait. Please have lunches at school by 10:30. If your child will arrive later than 11:00, please make sure s/he has already eaten. We provide a morning and an afternoon snack.

rest

Each child will need a beach towel-sized blanket and a small camper-sized pillow (if desired). Kidz Klub is the only class that does not nap. WE NEVER ACCEPT CHILDREN DURING REST TIME as it is disruptive to the children who are sleeping. So please do not arrive between noon and 2:00pm. Thank you for your consideration.

clothing

Please dress your child in clothes that may get dirty. Learning can at times be a messy experience. At no time can we allow necklaces, slip-on sandals, cleats or other items that could pose a safety hazard. Outside play is an important part of our day. Coats, boots, and mittens are required in winter. (Your child will need a second pair of shoes to wear inside.) In summer children love to stay cool by playing in the water, so they need to wear clothing that can get wet. On warm, sunny days please apply sunscreen with "all day protection " before coming to school.

Each child needs a change of clothes appropriate for the weather, which is left at the school.

show

Children enjoy bringing things from home to show their classmates. Check with the teacher for your child's show-and-tell day. We hope that each child will participate by bringing an object or story to share with us on that day. Whenever possible, please have the item fit the weekly theme. The items need to remain at home the rest of the week. At no time are weapons, superheroes, or balloons allowed at the center. Please put your child's name on all show-and-tell items. Munchkin Manor cannot be responsible for lost items.

Please check the message area in your child's room each day. You will be informed of special events, changes, potluck sign-up sheets, etc. Notices are also often posted in the entry way or on the sign-in sheet clipboard.
